Arcana 11 as your personal arcana

11 is Justice in Rider–Waite numbering and Strength in Marseille numbering, the order Destiny Matrix charts use. The card meanings live on the tarot card pages for Justice and Strength; this page is about the number as a birth arcana.

Arcana 11 trips people up twice. The first time is the name: card 11 is Justice in the Rider–Waite–Smith deck but Strength in the Marseille order, the one Destiny Matrix charts use, because the 1909 Rider–Waite deck swapped the cards at 8 and 11. A Matrix 11 therefore means Strength, while an 11 reached through the digits of a birth date, or through Greer's birth cards, means Justice. The second time is numerology, where 11 is often kept whole as a master number. Arcana arithmetic keeps it whole as well, for a duller reason. The digit-sum and Destiny Matrix reductions leave any total of 22 or less as it is, and the Greer method reduces its sum and keeps any result of 21 or less; eleven sits under both limits. The limits are not the same, though. A Greer sum of exactly 22 is folded to 4 and becomes the 13/4 pair, where the other two methods would keep 22 as The Fool.

Who has arcana 11

Arcana 11 is the Matrix day position of anyone born on the 11th or the 29th, since 2 + 9 = 11. About one birthday in eleven has a digit-sum arcana 11: dates whose digits total 11, 29, 38 or 47. 17 May 1996 adds up to 38 and folds to 11; 3 March 2003 reaches 11 without folding. On the Greer side the list is shorter than for most pairs. Two-digit Greer sums whose digits make 11 (29, 38, 47, up to 92) give 11/2, and so do just two three-digit sums, 101 and 110. 3 March 2003 qualifies here too, with 3 + 3 + 20 + 3 = 29, and 6 June 1970 gets there through 6 + 6 + 19 + 70 = 101. That short list of three-digit sums is why 11/2 is less common for birthdays from 1930 to 1999 than for birthdays from 2000 on: plenty of twentieth-century sums pass 100, and only two of those reach 11. As a Matrix center, arcana 11 appears for about 11% of dates, and there it is Strength.

Arcana 11 in the day slot means Strength, which Matrix readers take as a first impression of calm under pressure. Whoever was born on the 11th or the 29th tends to be the person who lowers the temperature in a room, who can sit with somebody's temper, or their own, without matching it and without backing down. Readers describe it as a gentle kind of force that others often lean on, sometimes before they notice they are doing so. What it costs is quieter: anger kept down until it leaks out somewhere unrelated, or every appetite handled as a lion to be managed. A good thing to ask of this slot is which of your patience you chose and which simply became habit. November birthdays carry an 11 too, in the month slot, and wherever arcana 11 sits in a Matrix chart the card is Strength, whatever card XI shows in a Rider–Waite deck.

Arcana 11 as your arcana number (birth-date digit sum)

Counted as a digit sum, the date uses Rider–Waite order, so arcana 11 is Justice: scales in one hand and a sword in the other. Across a whole date it suggests someone who wants decisions explained, who asks why at work, keeps family arguments honest and is uneasy with any outcome that cannot be justified out loud. Readers see that as a fairness other people can rely on. It can also turn into building an elaborate case for a conclusion that instinct reached first. The more useful habit is to name the instinct early and then test it against the evidence, rather than dressing it up afterwards. A Matrix chart with Strength at 11 and a Justice digit sum can belong to the same birthday; the two results come from different orders.

Arcana 11 in the Greer birth cards

Greer counts in Rider–Waite order as well, and there arcana 11 always comes first: the pair is 11/2, Justice in front and The High Priestess behind, since 1 + 1 = 2. That is the reverse of arcana 8, which only ever sits behind The Star. The front card describes how someone deals with daily life and the card behind it the motive underneath, so 11/2 sets a public insistence on fair, reasoned decisions over a private life run on intuition and silence. People with this pair often weigh things carefully in the open while their real reasons stay unspoken. The High Priestess also sits behind 20 in the 20/2 pair, so a soul card of 2 does not by itself tell you which pair you have; the card in front does.

Arcana 11 as a year arcana in 2026

• Destiny Matrix personal year 2026: 24 of the 366 possible birthdays land on 11, for example anyone born on 18 January, 21 July and 18 October.
• Greer year card for 2026 (first card of the year pair): 39 of the 366 possible birthdays produce 11 as the first card, for example 9 January, 14 May and 1 September; the year runs from your 2026 birthday to your 2027 birthday.

When a year lands on arcana 11, the method again decides the card. The Matrix personal year comes from your day and month positions plus the reduced digits of the year, so it is shared by everyone with your birthday, and an arcana 11 there is a Strength year: steadiness asked for in a situation that will not be rushed. The Greer year card adds your birth month and day to the current year's century and two-digit year and runs from birthday to birthday; an 11 there is a Justice year, the front card of an 11/2 year, usually associated with agreements that have to be fair to last. The counts above cover the year shown. Read either one as a question for the year, not an answer to it.

How to check your own number

1. For the personal arcana, take the day of the month you were born. If it is above 22, add its digits (28 → 2 + 8 = 10).
2. For the arcana number, add every digit of the full date, then keep adding the digits of the total until it is 22 or less. Stop at 22 — do not fold it to 4.
3. For the birth cards, add month + day + the first two digits of the year + the last two digits, then reduce the Greer way; the free calculator shows the working for all three.
